Help wanted notices were prevalent in all City of Carlsbad and Eddy County business sectors, including government.
As of Dec. 3, Eddy County had six job openings and the City of Carlsbad had five openings, per the government entities websites.
Eddy County sought a DWI Screener/Treatment Provider for the Eddy County DWI Program. Salary range varied from $24.35 to $26.87 an hour, according to Eddy County’s website.
“This full-time position’s primary responsibility will be clinical services,” read a partial job description.

The Eddy County Sheriff’s Office sought a certified and uncertified sheriff’s deputy in both Carlsbad and Artesia.
Hourly pay for the certified deputy ranged from $24.95 to $27.84. Pay for the uncertified deputy ranged from $19.51 to $21.51 an hour, per Eddy County’s website.
Eddy County’s Detention Center had two openings for nurse and officer.
“This position plans and performs a wide range of general medical nursing duties including inmate daily sick call, record keeping, medication administration and control,” read the nurse job description.
Hourly pay for the nurse varied from $32.72 to $36.12 an hour and pay for the detention center officer varied from $19.51 an hour to $21.53 an hour.

Eddy County sought a custodian for facilities in Artesia.
“This position reports directly to the custodian supervisor or designee and is responsible for a wide range of cleaning duties to be performed on various buildings, grounds, and related installations owned or under control, care and custody of the county,” read a job description.
Hourly pay ranged from $13.82 an hour to $15.25 an hour, Eddy County’s website indicated.

The City of Carlsbad sought police officer applicants. Pay varied for certified and uncertified officers, read the City’s website.
“Starting hourly base rate of pay for uncertified officers will be $24.01. Starting hourly base rate of pay for certified police officers with less than two years’ experience will be $27.01 with increase to $30.91 one year after hire,” according to the website.
“Starting hourly rate of pay for certified Police Officers with a minimum of two years’ experience as a certified Police Officer shall be $30.01 to $34.02 depending on length and type of previous certified experience,” the website continued.
The Carlsbad Police Department needed emergency dispatchers and starting pay varied from $24.91 to $29.89 an hour depending on experience.
The Carlsbad Fire Department solicited applications for firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) along with two on-call positions at the Riverwalk Recreation Center and Carlsbad Municipal Transit.
