The Carlsbad Municipal School Board is taking applications to fill the vacancy left by District IV Board Member Trent Cornum, after his resignation.
To apply residents of District IV must submit a written notice to Superintendent Gerry Washburn by July 15.
The chosen candidate will be appointed by the board on July 20, during a public meeting.
The term for the position will expire on December 31, 2023. Applicants must be able to stand for re-election in November 2023.
Some of the duties of a school board member include developing educational policies, review and approve the school district’s budget and ensuring school curriculum meets state standards.
Cornum’s resignation was the result of a move outside of the district he represents.
